There is no question that San Diego's coffee culture is growing by leaps and bounds; from Barrio Logan to Encinitas, craft coffee roasters are doing their part to power a local coffee community with the breadth and depth to rival any major city.

To help us survey the San Diego coffee landscape, we tapped The San Diego Coffee Network, whose Marcel Reyes helped us to compile this comprehensive list local coffee roasters that will undoubtedly expand in the coming year.

The San Diego Coffee Network collaborates with coffee professionals to help to promote specialty coffee and elevate San Diego's coffee culture via social, educational and competitive member-driven events; the group has a Thursday Night Throwdown (#SDTNT) scheduled for this Thursday, February 26 at 7 p.m. at Bean Bar in the East Village, when baristas from around San Diego will go head to head in a latte art competition that's open to the public.

The next time you need a caffeine fix, drink local and hit up one of these 16 Essential Coffee Roasters in San Diego. And stay tuned for an upcoming list of city's best coffee shops; feel free to send us your top picks.
