Draft Republic - Carlsbad
Both Draft Republic locations in Carlsbad and the La Jolla area are offering game-related specials starting March 12 and running through April 2. Whether you watch the games on the La Jolla eatery’s 100” projection screen or on one of the 50 flat screen TVs in Carlsbad, you can choose from food and drink combos including the “2 Point Shot” featuring Smoked St. Louis Ribs and choice of Draft Republic’s House IPA or Mission Craft Lager for $12.95 or the “3 Point Shot” featuring a Smoked BBQ Brisket Sandwich, choice of Draft Republic’s House IPA or Mission Craft Lager and a shot of Benchmark Bourbon for $19.95.
Shore Rider Bar
Just steps from the beach, Shore Rider makes for a comfortable perch for game-watching and a good spot for deal-getting. Its daily specials range from $3 tacos on Tuesdays from 3 p.m. until close and Wine Wednesday, when from 4 p.m. to close you get discounted pricing on select bottles of wine.
The neighborhood bar and grill just got its full liquor license, which means there are now cocktails to go with its 30 taps of beer. Throughout March Madness, the La Jolla eatery will be offering all sorts of deals including $8 gourmet hot dogs ranging from TJ dogs to Chicago and Seattle dogs, plus buckets of beer that start at $15.
The Duck Dive
A local favorite for casual eats and drinks near the beach, The Duck Dive is rolling out a series of specials that will be available at the bar during games. Basketball fans can choose from $1 chicken wings, $5 housemade “frickles” (the bar’s popular fried pickles) as well as $20 buckets of Saint Archer cans.
Hotel Republic San Diego, Autograph Collection
The hotel’s lobby bar and lounge, which has screens to view the games, is offering a $28 sandwich and drink combo for the duration of the March Madness tournament. It’s burger topped with Carolina-style pulled pork paired Buffalo Trace bourbon (on the rocks or neat) with your choice of draft beer.
This Gaslamp watering hole always has games screening on its multiple TVs. Go for the specials, including $2 tacos on Tuesday and a weekend “super brunch. Whether your team wins or loses, stay to sing your heart at karaoke, offered from 9 p.m. to close Monday through Friday.
Every single game of the tournament will be shown at the restaurant and bar, known for its popularity with sports fans. Post up on a bar stool between 3 p.m. on 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and score their happy hour deals, which include half off all beer, wine and spirits as well as select appetizers.
Two types of tournaments are scheduled to go down at this Gaslamp Quarter Mexican eatery on Tuesday, March 13. Registration begins at 6 p.m. with the single-elimination, bracket-style tournament beginning at 7 p.m. “Munch Madness,” a series of eating and drinking competitions between 16 two-person teams. The winning team will take home $1,000 worth of cash and prizes. Patrons can also get in on the action by filling out a championship bracket for $10 each, with all proceeds going to local non-profit Include Autism. On April 2, at the end of tournament play, the winner will receive a prize package filled with El Chingon swag and gift certificates.
Nason's Beer Hall
The Pendry Hotel’s casual pub is offering ‘Brackets, Brats & Brews’ deals starting Tuesday, March 13 through Monday, April 2. With games running on its HDTVs, sports fans can gather with friends around $20 pitchers of craft beer and choose to fuel up with bratwurst specials or other bar bites, including the Nason’s burger, housemade pretzels, and the chef’s jerky flight. During halftime, let off steam in the game room or practice your beer pong and corn hole skills.
Mavericks Beach Club
There are plenty of viewing vantages at this newly-opened sprawling party palace in Pacific Beach. 38 TVs are spread across the 15,000-square-foot space, which boasts five bars and features a weekday happy hour from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. that offers $1 off beer and wine, $6 mai tais and margaritas and $2 off a selection of snacks.
