New Italian restaurant La Pastaia is now open in Bay Park, with handmade pasta and other Italian dishes. La Pastaia opened Monday, June 5 at 3055 Clairemont Drive.

La Pastaia serves a variety of Italian dishes like pizzas and antipasti, but the focus is on the pastas, which are all made in-house. There are two dishes served from cheese wheels (fettucini with truffles and mushrooms served in a Parmesan wheel and busiate cacio e pepe served in a pecorino wheel), as well as fresh and filled pastas. The restaurant also serves breakfast and brunch, with pink-tinged dishes like pancakes with strawberries and mascarpone cream and eggs Benedict. La Pastaia also has a full bar.

The restaurant itself has a light pink theme, with chandeliers, plush seats, and a flower-adorned patio.

La Pastaia (which means “the pasta lady” in Italian) comes from two Italian women: Sicilian native Priscilla Scardina in the kitchen and Maria Lo Cascio as the lead floor manager.

La Pastaia is open for dinner daily, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. from Sunday through Thursday, and until 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. It’s open for breakfast from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.
