The transformation of the former Sears site at Westfield UTC will be the next phase of redevelopment to emerge in the area. Called The Collection at UTC and located at the corner of La Jolla Village Drive and Town Center Drive, the mixed-use, multi-level center is attached to the mall but is its own separate entity owned by Seritage Growth Properties and Invesco Real Estate.

Combining office space with retail, restaurants, and entertainment, its already-announced tenants include Equinox, the luxury fitness club, and Pacific Catch, a Bay Area-based group of restaurants known for sustainable seafood.

Joining the mix and currently scheduled to open Summer 2021 is Blue Bottle, the global coffee brand that first landed at One Paseo in 2019 and opened a second location downtown in early 2020. At a steady pace of an opening a year, expect Blue Bottle to continue expanding locally. A rep for the company told Eater that it “looks forward to thoughtfully growing its San Diego presence in the coming years.”
