With virtual restaurants and ghost kitchens propelled to prominence by the pandemic, a Los Angeles area food hall that brings together several of these takeout and delivery-oriented restaurants under one roof is expanding to San Diego where it’ll land at 1037 Garnet Avenue in Pacific Beach.

The flagship SocialEats began as a traditional food hall when it opened in 2018 on Santa Monica’s Third Street Promenade but subsequently spun off a virtual version called SocialEats OnTheGo that has since opened in the Hollywood and Mid-Wilshire neighborhoods as well as Anaheim.

Run by K2 Restaurants, a San Diego outpost of SocialEats OnTheGo is currently scheduled to open by late spring 2021 and will house Pop!s Burgers & Shakes, Azule Taqueria, Supertoro, Street Noods, and Hollywood Crab Shack. Customers will be able to combine items from any restaurant into one order, with no-contact pickup and free in-house local delivery on orders over $15 as well as third-party delivery options. The Pacific Beach food hall will also have some indoor and patio seating.
