As San Diego inches its way back from the pandemic, the ongoing transformation of Seaport Village’s food and drink lineup continues with the arrival of another full-service restaurant along the northern boardwalk of the waterfront complex. With a large patio and bay views, it combines a 24-tap tasting room from Mike Hess Brewing with a taco spot called Quiero Tacos.
Though the local brewery was originally going to pair up with the well-established City Tacos, it’s now teamed with a brand new restaurant from owner Hector Aguirre, whose menu of tacos based on housemade corn or flour tortillas ranges from traditional carne asada and carnitas to vegan options featuring grilled portobello mushroom or fried avocado and seafood-based versions that include sautéed octopus and a fried fish taco that incorporates Mike Hess Brewing beer into the batter. Open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., it also serves shrimp aguachile, ceviche made with a rotating catch of the day, and a variety of burritos.
On top of 20 house beers and a few guest brews, the tasting room is offering beer flights served on wooden boards whose design mimics the shape of flight decks from nearby aircraft carriers as well cider, kombucha, and Caffe Calabria cold brew coffee. Founder Mike Hess, who says that he’s working on adding a rooftop deck to their main brewery in North Park, tells Eater that they’ll listen to what Seaport Village visitors and locals are looking for in terms of brewing specific beers for this location.
