Working steadily to update and upgrade the longstanding Liberty Station golf course and clubhouse since taking over the Loma Club in January 2020, Point Loma residents Laura Johnson and Luke Mahoney, co-founders of the East Village’s You & Yours Distilling Co., have announced that construction will begin next month to add 18 holes of mini golf and transform the existing 3,200-square-foot clubhouse and patio space.
Called Tappers Mini Golf & Cocktails, it’ll be run with co-operators John Levan and Oliver Mahoney; Mahoney has experience in building mini golf parks in the United Kingdom and is overseeing the design of the course, which will be spread over two separate areas of the property. And though the historic clubhouse will still offer all the standard features and functions for its golfing regulars, its new look is designed to add to its family-friendly appeal by incorporating fun elements inspired by the owners’ love of classic golf-themed movies like Caddyshack and Happy Gilmore.

The mini-golf course and remodeled clubhouse are scheduled to be open by summer 2021; in the meantime the Loma Club’s current food and drink service as well as play on the original nine-hole golf course should continue uninterrupted.
