Pure Project Planning North Park Tasting Room

The brewery is targeting a summer opening

Despite breweries being on pause under the current stay-at-home order, Pure Project is moving forward with its next tasting room, which is coming to North Park. Founded in 2016, the Miramar-based craft brewery is on a steady expansion streak, having launched a second tasting room in Bankers Hill in mid-2019 and a third outpost in Carlsbad just last summer.

The new North Park location on El Cajon Boulevard, which formerly housed an automotive paint shop, spans a whopping 7,000-square-feet with 5,000-square-feet dedicated to outdoor space — a prime commodity in pandemic times. Co-founder Jesse Pine said, “After COVID hit, we realized having a large outdoor element would be a requirement for us going forward, and we were surprised by the lack of safe gathering spaces in San Diego, despite the beautiful year-round weather.”

With a late summer opening targeted, Pure Project is hoping that breweries will be allowed to resume operations by then so that they’ll be able to take advantage of the ample outdoor area for socially-distanced beer enjoyment.
