Cutwater Spirits Giving Away Lunch This Saturday
Miramar’s Cutwater Spirits is hosting their second free industry lunch at its tasting room and kitchen this Saturday, August 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to support members of restaurant and bar industry who have been impacted by the pandemic. While supplies last, the distillery/restaurant will be offering a complimentary chile verde-braised chicken sandwich with avocado lime coleslaw, cotija cheese, radish, cilantro, and pickled red onions served with spiced chicharrons to all eligible industry workers (must show proof via paystub, business card, etc.). George’s at the Cove Restarts Weekend Brunch
Starting this weekend, the La Jolla institution is expanding its outdoor dining options to include Saturday and Sunday brunch on its upper level Ocean Terrace patio. With reservations available starting at 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., George’s brunch menu includes a California omelet with crab, breakfast tacos, and chilaquiles plus build-your-own mimosas.
Give Back to Frontline Workers While Supporting Local Eateries
A new platform called Feeding Local Heroes aims to reward hospital, urgent care, senior care, and food bank workers while helping independent restaurants by enabling San Diegans to donate meals from small local eateries to frontline workers. The program is currently active in North County, with 13 restaurant partners including Fish 101, Churchill’s Pub & Grille, and Carlsbad Brewing Co. providing food to worker groups like Scripps Encinitas, the North County Food Bank, and Vista Village Care, with plans to expand throughout San Diego County.
Modern Times Coffee Goes National
The local brewery’s impressive roastery counterpart, headquartered in Point Loma, will soon be expanding its reach across the U.S. via a partnership with Sprouts Farmers Market. Starting the week of August 17, Modern Times Coffee will be available at all of the grocery store’s more than 330 locations around the country, which will feature a rotating selection of its canned single origin coffee and barrel-aged cold brews.
Bottomless Brunch Cocktails Come to Cesarina
The Point Loma Italian eatery has launched a revamped brunch from chef/partner and namesake Cesarina Mezzoni that includes bottomless pitchers of brunch sipples including an Italian spritz, champagne mojito, and lavender lemonade mimosa. Available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the expanded menu includes a polenta and mushroom dish with homemade sausage, poached eggs, and freshly grated black truffle, a spaghetti frittata with potatoes, tomato sauce, cheese, meatballs, and basil, plus lemon ricotta raspberry waffles.
