With a spare-no-expense interior that’s off limits for the time being, Huntress is the latest high-profile opening in the Gaslamp. The 7,000-square-foot, two-level luxury eatery anchors the new redevelopment at the corner of Fifth and J where the all-rooftop restaurant Lumi, a partnership between RMD Group and celebrity chef Akira Back, arrived in late June.
Billed as a “contemporary steakhouse and whisky society”, Huntress debuted with patio service and recently added another 66 seats that can be reserved for outdoor dining. Open Thursday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., the restaurant is offering a summer menu that includes seafood towers, lobster corn dogs, wagyu katsu sandos, a variety of steaks, from dry aged to A5 wagyu, plus fanciful desserts. The bar, currently pouring whisky flights and craft cocktails, promises one of the biggest collections Japanese whisky in the state.
Executive chef James Montejano has also launched the Huntress at Home program, with take-home dinners for two or four people that include entrees, sides, bread, and dessert.
