Breakfast Republic owner Johan Engman continues to augment his full-service brunch spots with the takeout-centric Eggies, pairing the two concepts in the East Village, Liberty Station, and most recently in Pacific Beach where Eggies has popped open serving breakfast sandwiches out of a 205-square-foot container adjacent to the popular Breakfast Republic location.
And now, Engman has added another to-go component to the mix. California Taco Club is operating out of a walk-up window on the Mission Boulevard side of Breakfast Republic, featuring its own small outdoor seating area. Offering grab-and-go focused items, the menu includes tacos filled with carne asada and spicy shrimp or beer-battered oyster mushrooms as well as California burritos and fish ceviche. Open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, California Taco Club is reportedly heading to North Park. Engman plans to open it, along with Eggies, in a building next to his original Breakfast Republic on University Avenue next year.
