Global brand Bonchon opens its second outpost in the San Diego area and its 22nd location overall in California this Wednesday, July 15 when the famous Korean fried chicken chain rolls out its latest shop in National City’s Bay Plaza Shopping Center. Per the current dining restriction, Bonchon will launch first with takeout and delivery and postpone its grand opening celebration until dine-in service is reinstated.
Named the “gold standard of fried chicken” by Business Insider in 2019, the company originated in South Korea in 2002 and now operates over 100 locations in the U.S. alone and over 300 worldwide. A local Bonchon rep told Eater that its new Carmel Valley outpost at The Village at Pacific Highlands Ranch should open by December or January, and that further expansion in planned for Chula Vista and North County.
