The East Village has a new spot for fried chicken courtesy of Corner Chicken, which opens this Friday, June 26 at the corner of Ninth Avenue and G Street in the former Cafe Chloe space. The quick-service, Southern-styled eatery is a departure for owner Isamu Morikizono, who operates the Tajima ramen restaurants throughout San Diego.

Open daily (except Tuesdays) from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Corner Chicken offers combos, served with bread and a pickle, that range from a pair of chicken tenders to a half-bird portion comprised of a chicken breast, wing, leg, thigh which can be spiced at five different levels up to the fiery “XXX”. There’s also a Corner Chicken Sando, made with Nashville-style hot chicken, kale slaw, pickles, and signature sauce on a toasted brioche bun. Sides include cheese fries, steamed vegetables, and mac and cheese. The bar features 16 taps of local craft beer as well as cider, hard seltzer, and kombucha.
