A brand new eatery lands in the East Village tomorrow, with free food and live entertainment to celebrate its postponed arrival; with its close proximity to the ballpark, Poke Vida was originally slated to launch on March 26 to coincide with the Padres’ Opening Day.
This is the first restaurant venture for Gaslamp District Media, a San Diego-based marketing, events, and promotional company run by Peter Lemke, who partnered with Kenny Casciato (Iron Pig Alehouse, Goodbar), a more experienced restaurateur, to develop the project.
Local entrepreneur Dan Fulkerson is Poke Vida’s primary investor, whose Batta Fulkerson Law Group is sponsoring the grand opening event scheduled for Friday, May 15. Open for takeout every day from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., the eatery will be giving away a free small poke bowl to the first 1,000 customers who arrive between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. tomorrow in exchange for a canned food donation to the non profit It’s All About The Kids’ food pantry.
