The run on bread in grocery stores, which has lots of people experimenting with home baking, has prompted Dudley’s Bakery to majorly step up production to keep up with demand. The 57-year-old San Ysabel bakery, located in eastern San Diego County near Julian, has bumped up its hours, going from a five to seven-days-a-week schedule, and is also hiring; experienced bakers looking for positions should call (760) 765-0488 or contact

Supplying bread and a variety of baked goods, including pastries, pies and fruit bars, to its original bake shop as well as markets, Dudley’s has enacted a seniors-only shopping hour from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Monday through Thursday and is offerinl discounts to first responders and health care workers. The bakery is also encouraging organizations, from non profits to senior care facilities, to contact them directly to arrange for special orders.
