Holy Paleta Transplants Its Sweet Frozen Treats to Little Italy

The Mexican paleteria expands to India Street

Mario A. Cortez

Little Italy locals and can now bite into Holy Paleta’s creations at the shop’s new India Street location. Based on dressed up paletas — frozen, handcrafted pops from central Mexico — that are topped with nuts, candies, and drizzles, the menu’s variety of flavors ranges from the vegan, juice-based chamango and watermelon mojito paletas to dairy-based horchata and creamy avocado treats. Signature creations also include a raspberry lemonade paleta dipped in white chocolate and topped with Fruity Pebbles cereal and a mango frozen pop drizzled with chamoy, sprinkled with tajin, and topped with spicy dried mango.

The Holy Paleta team is looking to establish itself in the neighborhood with the same formula which made its original Bonita location an instant hit, drawing crowds in shortly after opening. This outpost is pet-friendly, with more tables and a greater seating capacity.

Open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., the shop plans on adding more offerings including small appetizers and pop pairings with beer or wine.
