An Italian-styled gelateria has arrived on Adams Avenue, where its making small batches of gelato using organic milk and fresh fruit. Opened by longtime local residents Eduardo and Ofelia Gonzalez, Zero Gelato offers 12 different flavors daily, which rotate every week and always include vegan and sorbet options. Among them are a cream cheese gelato with pieces of red velvet cake, a carrot gelato with chocolate chips, white chocolate with matcha, Greek yogurt with berries, and a flavor called Unicorn Dust that’s tinted with spirulina algae. The handmade gelato is also the base of customizable gelato shakes and frozen popsicles.

The shop, which is open Monday through Thursday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., will be rotating the local coffee roasters that will fuel its coffee menu; first up is Dark Horse Coffee Roasters. Drinks also extend to specialty lattes made with almond and coconut milk, including the Ruby Ginger latte with beet, cardamom, and cinnamon and the Vanilla Maple Jade Latte with matcha and maple syrup crystals.

Their grand opening is scheduled for Saturday, April 4, when the first 50 guests will get a free scoop of gelato and all visitors can enter to win a gift card. Zero Gelato will also be offering special latte and gelato samples as well as revealing a brand new flavor.
