Telefónica Gastro Park — a fixture of Eater’s Tijuana-focused maps, from hottest eateries to best breakfast and taco spots, is working to secure a new location in San Diego. Telefónica Norte is currently in the works, founder Antonio Gamboa tells “Only Here”, the KPBS podcast that shares stories of the people whose lives and work are connected to the U.S.-Mexico border.
The Tijuana collective, made up of food trucks, small eateries, and breweries, which launched in 2014 and moved to a different location in 2017, has become a cross-border food destination. Gamboa talks about the formation of the gastro park and how it attracted some of Tijuana’s top culinary talent. The conversation includes the reveal that he is in the midst of contract negotiations for a Telefónica location in the San Diego area that will feature recognizable Tijuana chefs; listen to the entire episode here.
