An eatery that got its start at Los Angeles’ popular 626 Night Market, which opened its first brick-and-mortar last December in West LA and has since expanded to Pasadena and Long Beach, is setting out to conquer San Diego. Main Chick is the latest entry into the area’s competitive Nashville hot chicken scene.
Its menu of chicken tenders and bone-in chicken, served straight up or in sandwiches, is spiced at a range of heat levels, from ‘naked’ to ‘supreme’.
A debut local outpost, which opened this past weekend at Clairemont Town Square, will be the first of its locations to offer beer and wine. All told, the company tells Eater that it plans to launch seven locations throughout San Diego.
Main Chick’s already working on a second spot here, which is replacing Burgerim in Linda Vista just down the street from USD; it’s slated to open by June 2021.
Location Matters’ Alexis Dachs represented the company on both the Clairemont and Linda Vista locations and said, “With the hot chicken craze on the rise, Main Chick is being aggressive with their restaurant search. They’ve killed it in the LA market and I’m confident San Diego is going to be just as successful for them.”
