The former Berkeley Pizza space next door to The Office on 30th Street, which most recently was Max & Demitri’s Pizza, is turning into a new full-service restaurant focused on Thai street food. Kin Len will highlight popular street food from across Thailand, including grilled meat on skewers, all translated into small bites. Launching in a few months after a mostly cosmetic redesign, the restaurant will have local and Asian beers on draft.
Owner Kan Sritong runs two dessert destinations in the Kearny Mesa area — Up2You Cafe and MNGO Cafe. His first venture to the savory side was in 2017 with Convoy Street’s Your Story, which was eventually replaced by Cross Street Chicken. While Your Story’s menu was a fusion of several different Asian cuisines, Sritong tells Eater that Kin Len will be dedicated to dishes from his native Thailand.
Sritong, who says he intends to open a second Thai eatery sometime in 2021, plans to feature some of MNGO’s top-selling desserts at Kin Len. The cafe, which recently began franchising in California, features often-Instagrammed, mango-based sweets like mango snow ice, pudding, and sticky rice.
The North Park lease was facilitated by Next Wave Commercial’s Paul Ahern.
