Well-established in the Los Angeles area, where is operates locations on Santa Monica and Hollywood Boulevard, Oi Asian Fusion landed in Barrio Logan in 2018 with a quick-service menu of rice bowls that are primarily centered around interpretations of classic Filipino dishes, including adobo and tapsilog, but is also informed by everything from Korean and Japanese cuisine to American soul food.
The fast-casual eatery’s new outpost in the Carmel Mountain Ranch Town Center opens this weekend in a 1,200-square-foot space. With items ranging from lumpia and pork belly buns to burgers and fries, the eatery’s newer offerings including the Ribeye Bistek rice bowl, a take on a traditional dish from the Philippines that is interpreted here with medium rare-cooked ribeye in ponzu garnished with shallots and a fried egg. Owner Jaypee Woo tells Eater that another popular special, the Oi Shrimp Bomb bowl with lemon-garlic Cajun-style shrimp, may also be returning.
Location Matters’ Alexis Dachs, who negotiated the lease and is helping the eatery look for additional locations in San Diego, said, “Oi’s modern and unique brand paired with their authentic menu is a much needed addition to the Carmel Mountain Ranch community. I’m excited to see them thrive in their new location.”
