Pacific Beach Beer Bar Branching Out With North Park Brewpub

SD TapRoom is close to completion

SD TapRoom

One of San Diego’s longest-running beer bars, which opened a dozen years ago in Pacific Beach, is approaching completion on its much-awaited second location after several delays. Originally slated to open in 2017, SD TapRoom’s new 5,000-square-foot project on El Cajon Boulevard in North Park is expected to open this fall. The space, which has capacity for 220 guests and includes a 2,000-square-foot patio, will house 50 taps featuring the best in local beer, a mezzanine beer cellar, and a full kitchen.

The new venue marks SD TapRoom’s entry into the brewing game, with an onsite seven-barrel brewing system that will brew the company’s new house beers. SD TapRoom founders, brothers Kevin and Kyle Conover, scored former AleSmith and Mikkeller SD brewer Bill Batten as head brewer, and tell Eater that they’re looking to lock in a chef to lead the brewpub’s kitchen. The menu at its Garnet Avenue bar ranges from pizza and burgers to pasta and sandwiches.
