Better Buzz Coffee Drops Coastal La Jolla Cafe

The local roaster unveils a new Instagrammable hangout

Opening Saturday, August 31 in downtown La Jolla is the tenth location for Better Buzz Coffee Roasters; the Prospect Street cafe will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. The industrious company, which runs a roastery in Vista, is known for its eminently photographable cafes and this outpost is no exception, with a pink and teal color scheme and folding glass doors that open onto a coffee bar that runs the width of the space; two outdoor patio provide most of the seating.

Better Buzz is known for its popular specialty beverages, ranging from Mexican mochas and mint-infused iced coffee to a golden latte made with tumeric, warm spices, and honey, but it also offers a “purist bar” that brews up classic coffee drinks and pour overs. The cafe will also plans to roll out more single origin coffee options.

Its all-day menu of breakfast snacks, toasts, sandwiches, and award-winning soft-serve ice cream includes a new grains and greens bowl made with organic produce and topped with vegan green goddess dressing. A weekend-only special, featuring a shareable stack of brioche French toast flavored with almond butter, banana, and bacon, will also be available.

Better Buzz has a drive-thru cafe scheduled to open in Escondido by the end of the year and is pursuing “aggressive expansion plans for the right locations all over the county and up the coast”, according to Capital Real Estate Ventures’ Justin Earley, who says that they are especially looking for more drive-thru locations.
