30th Street’s newest restaurant will take diners on a tour through Neapolitan cuisine, including but also going beyond its signature pizza. Siamo Napoli opens this weekend in North Park, where it replaces Italian restaurant and wine bar Il Postino in the La Boheme complex.

Showcasing dishes from his beloved hometown of Naples, this marks the first solo restaurant for Flavio Piromallo, a well-known figure within the Italian restaurant community. Piromallo opened Little Italy classics Buon Appetito and Sogno di Vino during his decade working with the Buon Appetito restaurant group; its founder, Antonino Mastellone, operates many Italian eateries around town and offered Piromallo the opportunity to take over the Il Postino space. Piromallo also helped launch Civico 1845, and will remain involved with the wildly-successful India Street restaurant.

Now, Piromallo brings his time-honored hospitality to a new neighborhood, brightening and redecorating the 100-seat restaurant, which now pays tribute to Sophia Lauren (a famous Neapolitan) and the beautiful bay of Naples. Continuing the welcome trend of regional Italian food, Siamo Napoli’s menu showcases Naples’ popular seafood dishes, from a chilled salad of octopus, shrimp, and calamari to mussels steamed with lemon and black pepper and a fisherman’s risotto chock full of shellfish. Housemade pasta will also be featured, as well as Neapolitan pizza cooked inside a wood and gas oven. Starting off with dinner service, the eatery has a full bar which will offer a predominantly Italian wine list and classic cocktails.
