James Coffee Co. is preparing to open its third coffee bar in North Park, where it will be part of a renovated mixed-use building just north of El Cajon Boulevard at the intersection of 30th and Meade that houses Hardihood, a co-working space. The local roaster, whose production facility is off Pacific Highway in Middletown, currently runs popular coffee spots in Little Italy and Bankers Hill.
Owner David Kennedy told Eater that the new North Park site should be open later this summer, before he heads out on tour with Angels & Airwaves. A well-known guitarist, Kennedy was a founding member of the band before he launched James Coffee Co. in 2013.
Set up around a custom built mobile cart, much like its India Street location, the 30th Street outpost will repurpose the custom equipment from the cafe that was once adjacent to the main roastery. The 800-square-foot downstairs space will also have access to a patio and inner courtyard.
