Huge 17,500-Square-Foot Entertainment Hub Emerges in San Marcos

My Yard Live opens Monday, July 1

An expansive food and entertainment complex will take the stage in San Marcos this Monday, July 1. My Yard Live gives North County a family-friendly space to gather, eat, and play, with a 220-person dining room, multiple cocktail bars, arcade games, and a spacious patio that will have an area for adults with fire pits, stand-up shuffleboard, bocce ball, and more and a section geared towards kids that features picnic tables, playground elements, a tree house, and climbing structures.

Co-owners Mark McLarry and Jamie Minotti are veterans of the entertainment industry, and have positioned My Yard Live as a backyard hangout for the community that will host a steady calendar of music and other live performances. Culinary manager David Chenelle and co-founder George McKerrow created the menu, which is based on family-style dining, offering smoked brisket by the pound, platters of St. Louis ribs, and whole beer can chicken served with sides ranging from Peruvian canary beans and coleslaw to mac n’ cheese.

The venue will also have an on-site 10 BBL brewery led by head brewer Benjamin “Shaggy” Blaney, formerly of Mason Ale Works and The Lost Abbey, and My Yard Live founding partner Freddy Bensch, who runs Atlanta’s SweetWater Brewing. Their opening beer list includes SD Steel Toes IPA, a collab with Chula Vista Brewing, Red Rover Amber Ale, and a Blonde Kettle Sour with Apricots that was brewed with 3 Punks and Melvin Brewing.
