As it approaches its fifth anniversary on Convoy Street, Kearny Mesa dessert shop Iceskimo is adding a second location in South County that will land in Chula Vista’s Otay Ranch neighborhood. It will land in Millenia Commons, a shopping complex that’s part of a new mixed-use community that will span to including housing and office space, a school, and a hotel as well as retail and restaurants.
Board and Brew is already up and running in the center, and will be joined by Luna Grill and Grater Grilled Cheese. Iceskimo’s 1,205-square-foot space should be open by December. It’s twice the size of the original Convoy store and will feature an expanded menu. In addition to serving its signature made-from-scratch Taiwanese shaved snow, which is a combo of ice cream and shaved ice in flavors ranging from black sesame and strawberry to milk tea and lemon, owner Robert Yang tells Eater that the Chula Vista outpost will offer more hand-crafted drinks, soft-serve ice cream, and fresh waffles.
