A new beer garden in the beachside Playas de Tijuana neighborhood is spotlighting some of Baja’s best brews along with fresh grilled bites and craft coffee drinks. Playami by Border Psycho features 36 taps supplied by the Baja-based brewer and other standout beer producers from south of the border including Insurgente, Agua Mala, and Fauna. Wines from select Valle de Guadalupe wineries and spirits by local distiller Enmienda 18 are also available. Housed at a structure built out of recycled shipping containers, Playami features an open-air back patio as well as an upstairs terrace with street views and more lounge seating.
This is Border Psycho’s third location in Tijuana; the brewer operates outposts on downtown’s Avenida Revolucion and inside the popular Plaza del Zapato in the Zona Rio district, as well as a tasting room in Ensenada.
Food at Playami os provided by Karbo, which runs an existing eatery in the Colonia Madero neighborhood. Its menu includes burgers, ciabatta sandwiches, tacos, and mariscos plus breakfast items like chilaquiles, egg dishes, and waffles.

Downtown Tijuana coffee roaster Sur a Norte claims a corner of the building, pouring espresso drinks and French press coffee made with beans grown exclusively in Mexico; its coffee is featured in cocktails from the bar, and fresh-roasted bags of coffee are also available for retail.
Playami by Border Psycho is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 10 a.m. through midnight on Friday and Saturday.
