Unstoppable morning-centric eatery Breakfast Republic has cracked open its ninth location in Mission Valley, where it replaces Panda Express in the Park Valley Center complex on Camino de la Reina. The 2,436-square-foot restaurant is the whopping fourteenth opening for Johan Engman and his Rise & Shine Restaurant Group, which recently launched North Park Breakfast Company and also runs El Jardin in Liberty Station as well as three Fig Tree Cafe locations.
Slinging daily brunch from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Breakfast Republic’s menu has been drawing crowds since the concept debuted in 2015; its sweet and savory day-starters range from churro pancakes and s’mores French toast to bacon-wrapped breakfast hot dogs and crab and crawfish eggs Benedict. With a signature design that includes egg-shaped waiting room chairs and whisk-shaped light fixtures, the eatery also offers beer and variations Bloody Marys and mimosas.
Rise & Shine Restaurant Group will continue its Breakfast Republic rollout this fall with an outpost in Costa Mesa; next month, the hospitality group is planning to launch Feast & Fareway in Coronado.
