A new steak-focused grill will make its debut this Tuesday at Novo Brazil Brewing in the Eastlake suburb of Chula Vista. Setting up shop outside the brewery’s tasting room, La Central is a new eatery from restaurateur Roger Canez, who owns Tijuana’s Sonora Express Meat Boutique and opened Baja tapas spot La Catrina in North Park.

Operating Monday through Sunday from noon to 10 p.m., its chef is award-winning grill master Daniel Castruita, who will be cooking up a variety of cuts to order, including dry aged ribeye, top sirloin, and New York strip as well as pork belly, bacon-wrapped ribs, bone marrow, and more. Once a month, Canez and Castruita will be conducting grilling education classes. The menu will also feature an array of tacos plus nachos, ceviche, carne asada fries, and a burger.

In early May, Canez will open a stand-alone version of La Central at 3733 Main Street in Chula Vista. The location will seat 70 people and include kid-friendly elements, from a dedicated children’s menu to an inflatable jumping area.
