A partnership between two prominent North Park businesses has finally arrived on the shores of Imperial Beach; located just steps from the sand is a new outpost of City Tacos combined with a satellite tasting room from Mike Hess Brewing. A grand opening date will be announced on Instagram, with free tacos offered to the first 200 guests.
The 21-tap tasting room is just the first phase of the project; when completed, the 4,300-square-feet venue will include additional shipping container structures, a deck, and a large beer garden area with picnic tables, fire pits, and outdoor games.
City Tacos will be serving a menu similar to its North Park and La Mesa locations that includes some favorites from sister eatery IB Street Tacos; eventually, the offerings will expand to include appetizers, tostadas, and breakfast plates ranging from chilaquiles to eggs Benedict. Owner Gerry Torres is gearing up to for even more growth; opening in mid-to-late March in the Encinitas Lumberyard Shopping Center is another outpost that will feature a 1,000-square-foot, wrap-around patio, fire pit, and foosball tables, and City Tacos is also headed to Pacific Beach at 4516 Mission Boulevard and in Sorrento Valley at 11075 Roselle Street.
