Texas de Brazil Churrascaria, the world’s largest Brazilian-American steakhouse brand, lands tonight in North County where the family-owned restaurant group opens its 61st location and third in California at The Shoppes at Carlsbad. Founded in Texas but featuring churrasco, the tradition of grilled meats celebrated by Latin and South American countries, it offers a rodizio-style dining experience at a fixed price.

Those familiar with the dining style know the drill: flip the placard at your seat to green and servers will bring a steady parade of slow-roasted meats to be carved tableside. At Texas de Brazil, the lineup of cuts grilled over natural wood charcoal includes picanha (sirloin), lamb chops, filet mignon, leg of lamb, Parmesan-crusted pork loin, bacon wrapped chicken breast, and more. Turn your placard to red to stop the onslaught of meat.

Also included is a salad bar with more than 50 items hot and cold items to choose from, including bread and cheese, sushi, and some Brazilian specialties. Adult meals are $47.99, or $29.99 for just the salad bar. At lunch, dessert and unlimited non-alcoholic beverages are included in the price. The restaurant has an extensive collection of wine from California and South America and the bar mixes up several varieties of caipirinhas, Brazil’s national cocktail.

Open for dinner Monday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Friday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 3:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.; lunch is offered on weekends between noon and 3:30 p.m. and a weekday happy hour runs from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
