One of the East Village’s hot spots for espresso and pour-overs has moved closer to the heart of the neighborhood. Coffee & Tea Collective opened at its new home in the Union Cowork building this past weekend, where they continue to supply downtown with specialty coffee, seasonal drinks, and a curated assortment of pastries from local bakers.
The compact new location will offer a centralized counter experience compared to the shop’s previous East Village home, allowing for a quicker turnaround and a more coherent bar flow. This new space also features a low-key indoor seating area, along with outdoor table seating. There is also a push to bring Collective Sound, a quarterly musical showcase put on by Coffee and Tea Collective, to the Union Cowork space in the near future.

According to retail operations manager Ryan Parker, their previous 9th Avenue location was not originally built to be a coffee bar, but when the company began to work with Union Cowork on its new storefront they had a blank slate to create an ideal space for their needs. “I think this will definitely be a better version of our downtown operations,” Parker added.
Both the East Village and North Park locations are rolling out a new spring drink menu today, featuring a matcha iced tea latte and a cherry-garnished Rwandan coffee soda. The cafes will now open at 6:30 a.m. on weekdays and at 8 a.m. on weekends.
