A building currently under construction in the heart of La Jolla Shores, which will be the first new development for the neighborhood in two decades, is seeking a restaurant tenant. A popular beach destination and summertime hub for locals and tourists, the village community is home to restaurants such as Galaxy Taco, Shorehouse Kitchen, and Barbarella. The 8,500-square-foot, three-story building, which will feature condos on its upper floors, sits east of Piatti on the corner of Avenida de la Playa and Paseo Grande at 2200 Avenida de la Playa.
Its ground floor will be anchored by a 3,000-square-foot restaurant with patio; local developers Bob and Bobby Whitney tell Eater that they’re looking for an experienced operator for the space that can bring in a full-service restaurant and cocktail bar that will offer lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch. The Whitneys plan to deliver the restaurant space by early summer, with hopes that it can open later this year.
