A team of industry veterans is capitalizing on their collective experience to bring a large-scale, family-friendly dining and entertainment hub to San Marcos; called My Yard Live, it’s aiming to open in late June. Coming in at whopping 17,507-square-feet, it will include nearly 7,000-square-feet of outdoor space; one patio will be dedicated to kids, with playground elements, climbing structures, and picnic tables, while the second patio will feature fire pits and games for adults, including stand-up shuffleboard and bocce ball. The fun continues inside, with arcade games, air hockey, ping-pong, and more.

Local owners Mark McLarry and Jamie Minotti ran the country’s largest solar-powered sound, stage, and lighting company as well as an artist-management firm; My Yard Live will have its own stage, hosting both concerts for children and bands geared towards adults. Partner Freddy Bensch, co-founder of the acclaimed SweetWater Brewing in Atlanta, Georgia will oversee the on-site brewery, which will fill the taps of its island-style cocktail bar. Completing the team is Bensch’s longtime friend and fellow Georgian George McKerrow, who will lend his considerable hospitality experience to the restaurant side. In his four decades in the business, McKerrow co-founded Ted’s Montana Grill with media icon Ted Turner and launched Atlanta’s well-established LongHorn Steakhouse. McKerrow told Eater that My Yard Live’s all day menu will have an a la carte, family-style format with shareable plates ranging from smoked meat to whole roasted chickens, sides of fish, and large salads.
