The WestBean Coffee Roasters open a fourth branch in San Diego this Friday, February 15 on Morena Boulevard. Formerly an eatery called Red Card Cafe, the 4,500-square-foot location near Bitter Brothers Brewing brings a craft coffee option to the Bay Ho neighborhood. Featuring a 28-seat indoor space and 12-seat patio, it’s also the new hub for WestBean’s roasting operations, which feed its other outposts in Bankers Hill, Liberty Public Market, and downtown San Diego.
Open daily from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., the cafe will serve its full coffee menu, including cold brew on tap and pour-overs. To start, it’ll offer pastries from Bread & Cie but will add breakfast sandwiches, açaí bowls, and yogurt bowls in the coming weeks. With the new larger roastery, co-founder James Rauh tells Eater that the company is focusing on expanding its wholesale business but didn’t rule out the possibility of more retail locations.
