Babycakes Bakery Brings the Sweet Stuff Back to Hillcrest

The cupcake specialists have returned

Popular bakery Babycakes has returned to Hillcrest, the neighborhood where the dessert shop spent a decade serving up sweet treats. After a year away, it’s back open in a new spot at Fourth and Robinson with an official grand opening event scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, December, 14 when there will be a ribbon cutting along with giveaways and specials.

Now operating daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours kicking in after the grand opening, the cafe is best known for its cupcakes that are available in more 20 flavors, from salted caramel and red velvet to blood orange and vanilla strawberry mousse; there are also gluten-free and vegan options. Other desserts include creme brulee cheesebake, flourless chocolate cake, tarts, and cookies. Custom birthday and special occasion cakes, made at Babycakes’ central kitchen in the South Bay, can be picked up at this location.

Founder Christopher Stavros tells Eater that a full coffee menu will be coming soon. Early next year, he’s planning to add a bubble bar component, which will pour champagne, prosecco, and other sparklers as well as beer and wine.
