Seaport Village, the nearly 40-year-old downtown landmark that spans 14 acres of waterfront shopping, dining, and entertainment, is finally beginning a long-awaited series of enhancements and updates that should help boost a revitalization of the complex. Last week, the Port of San Diego’s Board of Port Commissioners voted to approve three new leases from well-known local businesses that are anticipated to open in 2020.

Landing on the boardwalk in Seaport Village’s Carousel District, north of the iconic Pier Café, will be another partnership between Mike Hess Brewing and City Tacos, who together operate another similar project in Imperial Beach. Replacing the former Greek Island Café, the 1,000-square-foot space will feature an eatery, 20-tap tasting room, and ample patio seating says founder Mike Hess, who told Eater that he’s aiming for a May opening.

Next door, taking the place of Asagio Pizza Pasta Plus is the sixth location of Mr. Moto Pizza, which will be offering its New York-style pizzas by the slice or whole pie for pickup and delivery at this 906-square-foot outpost as well on-site dining on its waterfront patio.

And moving into the 500-square-foot space previously held by the Seaport Cookie Company is Gaslamp specialty coffee and bagel shop Spill the Beans. Located in the Lighthouse District across from the Marriott Marina near San Pasqual Winery, this is the second location for the local brand, which will be serving Dark Horse Coffee and California-style bagels.
