Patxi’s Pizza will grand open the first of at least three planned locations in the San Diego area in Hillcrest on Wednesday, October 23. Founded in the Bay Area in 2004, the chain has 17 locations throughout California, Colorado, and Washington. Last fall, the company was purchased by the LA-based Elite Restaurant Group, which also operates Slater’s 50/50 and Daphne’s.
The Hillcrest store is the first to open under the Patxi’s new ownership; the full-service restaurant brand is taking over all local Project Pie outposts, so look for addition openings in Chula Vista and Eastlake later this year.
The restaurant recently rolled out a refreshed menu, which now offers more varieties of its Chicago-style deep dish pizza and thinner crusted Neapolitan pizza, ranging from classic pepperoni to chicken tikka masala, prosciutto and arugula, and a vegan options with Daiya cheese and fresh spinach. There are also salads, appetizers, sandwiches, and piadina, an Italian flatbread wrap, as well as sweet dessert pizzas.
Hillcrest’s grand opening kicks off at 11 a.m. on October 23 with a free 10-inch Neapolitan pizza for the first 50 customers in line, buy one get one free 10-inch Neapolitan pizzas all day, and complimentary samples of its deep dish pizza. Regular operating hours will be Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. The branch is also hosting a fundraiser on Saturday, October 26 for The San Diego LGBT Community Center. From 11 a.m. on, Patxi’s will offer select deep dish slices for five dollars, with 20% of the proceeds going to the local organization.
