Seafood spot Fish 101, which debuted in 2011 on Highway 101 in the Leucadia area, has expanded its footprint in North County. Although the eatery originally intended to open its next location in Solana Beach, the eatery has just launched a new coastal location in the community of Cardiff, where it replaces local Italian cafe Pappalecco. Open for dinner Tuesday through Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., this Fish 101 outpost boasts an ocean view from its dining room.
Chef and co-founder John Park tells Eater that they are continuing their efforts to support local fishermen and farms in Cardiff. The counter service-style menu ranges from West Coast oysters to fish and shrimp tacos and burritos, sandwiches, fish and chips, and grilled seafood plates. With its ties to local fishing and surfing culture, the eatery wants to continue expanding on the 101 into more neighborhoods along the coast.
