A year after opening a branch of Pisco Rotisserie & Cevicheria in Carlsbad, where it replaced an outlet of his Sammy’s Wood Fired Pizza, owner Sami Ladeki is turning the space into Toast Gastrobrunch, a new daytime eatery that will relaunch at the end of January. The original location of Pisco in Liberty Station remains in operation.

Running the show at the North County breakfast spot is executive chef/partner Alfred “Alfie” Szeprethy, who also holds the position of Sammy’s executive corporate chef, who will preside over a mix of brunch plates which will naturally include a variety of toasts along with smoked brisket hash, breakfast salads, and his signature Eggs in Purgatory, poached eggs in a spicy shashuska sauce, with mushrooms, bacon, feta, scallions, and mint in a sourdough bread bowl.

The restaurant’s full bar allows for an array of breakfast cocktails. In addition to classics like Bloody Marys, sangrias, and micheladas, the specialty drink menu will include the Boozey Start, a combination of coffee, brandy, Grand Marnier and Kahlua topped with whipped cream and orange peel and the Lavender Lady, a lavender cordial made with lime juice, champagne and lavender bitters.
