A new start-up pizzeria is now cooking in Pacific Beach. Called Powerhaus Pizza, the 1,200-square-foot Garnet Avenue eatery is putting a trendy, health-focused twist on custom-made pies. The menu features 10-inch pizzas, which come with three choices of crust: a whole-grain with ground flax or a classic white crust that both get a boost from plant protein, and a cauliflower option.

Next comes sauce, either an organic tomato base, pea pesto with basil and lemon, barbecue sauce, or balsamic glaze. Cheeses include a grass-fed or vegan mozzarella and toppings range from vegetable medleys to vegan chicken, proscuitto, and nitrate-free pepperoni. The fast-casual eatery also offer signature pies, including a traditional margherita or Hawaiian-style pizza with mozzarella, ham, and pineapple. Beverages range from kombucha and kefir soda on tap to smoothies.
