East Village speakeasy Cat Eye Club will serve its last drink this Friday, September 28. First launched in 2013, Cat Eye has operated as tiki bar for the last four years, with a design inspired by the 1950s and 1960s and a menu of classic and new wave tropical drinks including the shareable Goonies Never Say, a rum and citrus drink served in a a treasure chest. Located across from Petco Park, the 900-square-foot space also hosted a steady schedule of DJs and live music.
Good Time Design (The Deck at Moonshine Flats, Cerveza Jack’s), the local hospitality group behind the bar, is closing it to make more room for The Blind Burro, their adjacent Mexican restaurant that debuted on J Street back in 2012. Cat Eye Club will be repurposed into more dining space for the casual eatery, also allowing the group to build out a new private dining room; the remodel is scheduled to be complete by mid-November.
