Tacos and Cocktails Emerge in the East Village

LOLA 55 opens Wednesday

You’ve snuck a peek the menu and heard how its founder plans to turn it into the ‘Tender Greens of tacos’ but it will soon be time to finally taste LOLA 55, which launches Wednesday in the East Village. Serving lunch starting at 11 a.m., the all-day eatery will stay open until midnight on weekends.

115 seats are equally split between the dining room and an outdoor patio, which wraps around the 3,200-square-foot space at 13th and F Streets. Created by LA-based design firm Bells + Whistles with on-trend color scheme of peach, aqua and turquoise and plenty of plant life, the restaurant includes a stylish salon adjacent to the cocktail bar. Pro tip: if the line-up to order food is too long, find a seat the bar and place your order directly with the bar staff.

There are future plans to take the fast-casual eatery up the West Coast but for now, it’s hoping to be a catalyst for the East Village by providing another dining and drinking option to locals, from area residents to tenants of the IDEA1 building. Pasquale Ioele of downtown’s Urban Strategies Group, which represented the tenant in this transaction says, “We’re very excited to see the impact LOLA 55 will have IDEA1 and Makers Quarter District. The team has done a fantastic job of creating something unique to add to the synergy of the existing neighborhood.”
