For a decade, French pâtissier Tim Brock has regularly sold-out his cravable creations in the glass display cases at Encinitas’ Darshan Bakery & Café and now, alongside wife Heidi, chef Brock is preparing for their first expansion, six miles to the south.
Taking over the shuttered Brick 15 coffee shop at the corner of Camino Del Mar and Ninth Street, the 1,800-square-foot Patisserie Del Mar will also offer patio seating with an ocean view in the distance.
The Del Mar Sandpiper confirms that Brock will be building on his Encinitas roster of sweet and savory menu favorites, adding homemade soups, quiches, and other light lunch fare, plus specialty coffees made from locally sourced beans.
The original cafe at 949 Second St. is open daily from 8 a.m to 4 p.m and earlier at 7 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and has earned a loyal fan base for the standout specialty, almond croissants.
Currently hiring, signage on the Del mar windows promises the new patisserie is “coming soon.”
