Fox Restaurants, the hospitality group from Sam Fox out of Phoenix, already has an impressive lineup of new eateries on the way to San Diego. Now comes word that the restaurateur behind True Food Kitchen and Flower Child plans to open a new unnamed place on Orange Avenue in Coronado.
Fox tells The San Diego Union-Tribune that the American grill with a neighborhood feel takes over the soon-to-close Costa Azul space in early 2019.
The unnamed restaurant plans to serve breakfast dishes such as pastries and coffee in the morning, then roll over to lunch and dinner. A new patio at the back of the space, an indoor and outdoor bar, windows into the kitchen, and a test kitchen used for developing new dishes.
Fox previously announced plans to open Blanco Tacos + Tequila, a modern Mexican restaurant, in its own building near Bloomingdale’s at Fashion Valley mall this fall. North Italia takes over the California Pizza Kitchen space at the mall in the winter, and a second version of the pasta and pizza restaurant heads to One Paseo in early 2019.
Fox has Flower Child, his healthy restaurant, at Del Mar’s Flower Hill Promenade, and True Food Kitchen in Fashion Valley and Westfield UTC.
