Expanding from its five-year old North Park success story, Young Hickory made its debut on the ground floor of the IDEA1 mixed-use concept, serving Bird Rock Coffee and craft beer cans to the building’s future residents and businesses.

Diners can take advantage of the seating in the outdoor courtyard and also order from a menu that’s similar menu to the original with breakfast choices, acai bowls, bagels, panini, romaine wedges, and smaller bites.

Located at 810 13th St., between F and G Street, the interior features windows open to the sidewalk and a hard-to-miss “stay buzzed” mural covering one wall. The counter-service space is open daily from 6 a.m to 10 p.m.

Young Hickory will soon be joined by neighbor Lola 55, now hiring for a 3,200-square-foot upscale spin on a fast-casual taco shop. Early plans for the restaurant, announced last year, called for a woodfired grill, tortilla, and meat-carving stations plus a cocktail bar, dining room, and patio, along with a core menu of 10 different five-inch tacos created by executive chef and partner Andrew Bent. An exact opening date has yet to be shared.
