The Patio on 101 in Encinitas finally brings The Patio Group to North County. One of San Diego’s more prolific hospitality groups, which counts Saska’s Steakhouse, Fireside by the Patio, and The Patio on Goldfinch among its holdings, took over Open House Food + Drink last month and has reopened in the sprawling 7,000-square-feet space that now includes a kid’s play area and pet-friendly patios.

There are two bars on site; one, named “Himmelberg’s” after Joey Himmelberg, a late friend of The Patio Group’s CEO, Gina Champion-Cain, will serve the citrusy Himmel Brew, an exclusive beer by Mission Brewery. Michael Ground, the group’s executive chef, is in charge of the “elevated American bistro” menu, which includes a fish of the day, crispy Brussels sprouts, a turkey burger, and cheese boards. Open Tuesday through Sunday for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch. Steamed buns and other dishes from another Patio Group eatery, Mission Beach’s Bao Beach, will be featured on the happy hour and late night menus.
