With its motor-vehicle theme, it’s fitting that Moto Deli’s second shop will share a location with a gas station. The popular North County sandwich spot, which launched in 2016 in Encinitas, is scheduled to open next month adjacent to the Shell station on Mira Mesa Boulevard in a space that last housed a Roberto’s Taco Shop.

Open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Mira Mesa outpost will serve a condensed version of Moto Deli’s all-day menu, which is based on scratch-made sandwiches including the customer favorite Turketta, a combo of smoked turkey breast, avocado, arugula, bacon, aged white cheddar, moto spread, and apricot mostarda on squaw bread. Executive Chef Andy Halvorsen is also crafting brand new breakfast offerings for this location. The eatery, which will also serve beer and wine, is currently being remodeled; a 800-square-foot patio area is also planned.
