New to San Marcos is La Fleur’s Winery, an urban winery that opened on 215 Pacific Street. The winery—the first in San Marcos—will be celebrating its grand opening on May 19 with a party from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. that includes wine tastings, free giveaways, a winery tour, live music as well as wine club and bottle discounts.
The winery is a family-run operation, owned by Dave and Dana La Fleur along with their daughter, Kayla Thomas. The family has decided to make theirs a philanthropic organization, with a portion of every glass and bottle sold donated to local charities.
The wine itself is made from grapes grown on the family’s estate vineyard, which is in North Escondido. New releases include 2016 Petite Sirah, 2015 Zinfandel and 2015 Petit Verdot varietal wines.
